I do "guided tours" every year or so in a cave system and because of the logistics of running the bosun's chair, I need to entertain (and inform!) my group of 4-8 people for about an hour. Which gets a bit rough on the voice after 6 or 7 groups in one day - one needs a pint! So, one builds a pub. Doesn't one?A. But that way of fighting back would not have been the right way.

I don't mean to blame or criticize Paul -- he was a boy experiencing a terrible life, and he snapped -- and I don't know what you can realistically expect someone that age, in that horrendous situation, to do.

But perhaps you make your comment because you're in a bad situation yourself, one in which you can relate to him. If you are, I urge you, I beg you, not to follow the same path he did. You have the power not to bring into other people's lives the pain that Paul did (just think of what his little sister, who survived, had to suffer afterward, and that's only one example). You can show yourself to be above that. There are people around you who can help you achieve that; seek them out. I'll be one of them if you want me to be.Scott Maxwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11510688120932625522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-69925412562877555282010-01-30T06:11:51.692-08:002010-01-30T06:11:51.692-08:00We Want The Pictures. We Want The Pictures.Pepehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16950399419632049389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-9012616888932647802010-01-30T05:38:39.902-08:002010-01-30T05:38:39.902-08:00Interesting story.

I was the one who suggested to NASA that Ray be there and I arranged for Ray to be at your MER 5 year celebration event (absolute coup, for me and Ray!). And you and Ashley bring him to the MER op room was a complete surprise and great! (Great footage!)

That was a great event! And you were awesome! Ray absolutely had one of the best times of his life at the MER Science Operations Working Group room!

Have you ever seen footage? If you like, I can provide you with frame grabs for this Blog? I have all the HD footage digitized on my FCP system at home.

I've actually been trying to get hired at NASA/JPL since Oct 08 as Prod/Dir/Editor... but the "freeze" (hiring) is on, until the big thaw.....

If you would like shots, or even short WebVideo clips of that event, just let me know!

I can be reached at my website, or by email.

Later!

Robert Moore
Email: robert.moore@woomza.comRobert Moorehttp://www.woomza.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-86011505475487977642009-02-11T04:18:00.000-08:002009-02-11T04:18:00.000-08:00Simply touching. If Bradbury gives NASA a tiny personal object of his or a fragment of it, it might be put on MSL and brought to Mars.

For example, a tiny scrap of paper from one of his manuscripts. A very small container wouldn't probably steal more than a few grams worth of payload, and might be used as ballast when accurately balancing the vehicle.Paolo Amorosohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03789843965489611451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-53323490686137032972009-01-26T22:29:00.000-08:002009-01-26T22:29:00.000-08:00And that book is now one of my treasured possessio...And that book is now one of my treasured possessions. :)

Thanks again for the signature (and the story!!)

---Joi, the geeky girl with the bookJoihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07757013732505715189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-40899910082947039402009-01-12T17:02:00.000-08:002009-01-12T17:02:00.000-08:00Though this isn't a collective term, it's one used...Though this isn't a collective term, it's one used up to the late 17th-century with some regularity when referring to nieces and nephews:

sister-son; sister-daughter
brother-son, brother-daughter

SMSean Malonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427675310404669435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-36459066492691104432009-01-07T17:09:00.000-08:002009-01-07T17:09:00.000-08:00Hi Scott,Just a quick note to tell you, if it's an...Hi Scott,
Just a quick note to tell you, if it's any comfort, that you're not alone in your feelings about how Paul was treated; I suspect that Andy and big Shawn feel the same way too.

It's been a while since I thought of him; your post has been a poignant reminder.

best,
Sean Malone
smalone@ucmo.eduSean Malonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427675310404669435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3980016111424444166.post-41298865363019760862008-12-29T01:20:00.000-08:002008-12-29T01:20:00.000-08:00Wow.
